Itinerary

Wild Seafood Experience - epicurean seafood banquet

Day 1: Perth to Yallingup private tour Margaret River

Your culinary adventure embarks from your Perth accommodation at 7.30 am, where your experienced guide will greet you. After coffee, travel south to Mandurah for your first taste of the region on the unique Wild Seafood Experience. Board the Reel Affair II, a purpose-built cray fishing vessel and pull crayfish pots as you learn about Western Australia’s crayfish conservation efforts.

Cruise Mandurah’s picturesque canals and waterways, keeping your eyes peeled for dolphins, and indulge during an exquisite barbecue seafood buffet lunch featuring ocean delicacies such as blue swimmer crabs, salmon, marinated octopus and your freshly-caught crayfish. Washed down with local wine and beer, this is guaranteed to be the perfect start to your exclusive food and wine tour.

Travel to Busselton to stroll along the world’s second-longest jetty, which stretches 1.8km out into Geographe Bay. A little further down the road, visit one of the region’s most popular attractions, Ngilgi Cave. Head underground for a magical experience before kicking off your shoes and walking along the white sand at one of the region’s postcard-perfect spots – Meelup Beach.

Arrive at Smiths Beach Resort in Yallingup, and settle into your ocean view room for two nights. Tonight’s fine dining experience is an a la carte selection of mouth-watering Australian cuisine at Lamont’s restaurant in the resort. Kate Lamont is one of Western Australia’s most successful chefs with a career spanning over three decades. Sit back and relax with views over the ocean, the perfect way to end the first day of your private Margaret River tour.

Today you will travel approximately 300 km.

Day 2: Margaret River

You’re on holiday after all, so this morning relax with breakfast in bed. Enjoy a range of fresh local produce from your gourmet breakfast hamper, courtesy of Lamont’s, then venture out to Barnyard 1978. Here, you can taste seven varieties of pure, unprocessed and deliciously sweet honey straight from the beehive. After, wander through the vibrant township of Margaret River, home to an eclectic mix of boutique stores and galleries.

Morning tea is served alfresco on the veranda at the world-class Leeuwin Estate at around 10.30 am. Accompany your host on a private behind the scenes tour, learning about the estate’s history, the winemaking process and their contribution to the arts. A tutored wine tasting of a selection of Leeuwin Estate wines is a must. Awaiting you in the restaurant following the tour is a seven-course degustation menu, carefully matched with current release and museum selected Leeuwin Estate wines. This truly is the most luxurious way to introduce the three pillars of fine wine, food and the arts that define the estate.

Spend the rest of the afternoon tasting your way around the Margaret River region, which we will tailor to your liking. Options include cellar door visits to Gabriel’s Chocolate, the Grove Distillery and Wills Domain. Come late afternoon, return to the resort. Those feeling like burning off some of the produce from the day can take a walk along the iconic Cape to Cape Track to a famed rock pool knows as the Aquarium.

Satisfied from a day of indulgence, retreat to your balcony to watch the sunset over the ocean. Enjoy a platter of local produce that your guide collected throughout the day.

Today travel approximately 150 km.

Valley of the Giants, Tree Top Walk

Day 3: Yallingup to Denmark

It’s up early today to enjoy breakfast at one of the local’s favourites. Following breakfast, see the beautiful Margaret River mouth and the world-famous surf break at Surfers Point. Now, it’s time to leave Margaret River and head south to see the giant stingrays of Hamelin Bay. From the beach to the forest, enjoy an exceptional dining experience lakeside at Silkwood Estate in Pemberton. This vineyard has award-winning wine and panoramic views of the surrounding lush karri forest.

This afternoon, traverse through the treetops at the internationally recognised Valley of the Giants. The iconic Tree Top Walk places you 40 metres high in the canopy of Western Australia’s majestic and endemic tingle trees, some as old as 400 years. Just an hour down the road, the idyllic town of Denmark and its pristine beaches, walking trails, abundant wildlife, towering trees and wildflowers await. Check into your luxurious spa villa at Aiyana Retreat, nestled among the bush.

Tonight, you are in for a treat as renowned Chef Silas from Pepper & Salt restaurant joins you in your villa for a private cooking masterclass. He will prepare a three-course meal while giving you tips on using spice to enhance your cooking.

Today travel approximately 450 km.

Day 4: Denmark to Albany

Breakfast this morning is at Denmark’s Bibbulmun Café, followed by a walk along the Mokare Heritage Trail, which follows the Denmark River. Onwards to William Bay National Park, home to Greens Pool. A white sandy beach with huge granite boulders meets you, and in the warmer months, this is an ideal place for a swim. From one paradise to another, visit Elephant Rocks which, as its name suggests, looks like a herd of elephants paddling out to sea.
It’s time for the final exquisite culinary experience of your Margaret River food and wine tour. Savour every moment of the warm hospitality, fine wines and wholesome food at the multi-award winning winery The Lake House.

Take the scenic coastal drive towards Albany, visiting Torndirrup National Park to witness the dramatic coastal rock formations of The Gap and Natural Bridge, then take in sweeping views over Albany from Mount Clarence. Have one last toast of West Australian wine with your guide before returning to the airport for your 5.25 pm flight back to Perth. You will be greeted at the airport by a driver and transferred back to your Perth accommodation, arriving at your hotel at approximately 7.30 pm.

We did a whole day tour of Port Lincoln and it was truly the highlight of our trip. Our tour guide, Ian, was just so friendly and knowledgably about the area. It was definitely worth it and we are so glad we did it to discover the best … More of Port Lincoln!

We recently were treated to a fully guided whale watching tour and have been raving about it ever since. We saw things we were in awe of, went to places that we can't wait to return, learned things about the area that were amazing … More and stayed in beds that were oh so comfortable. We would recommend Untamed Escapes to anyone who wants to get the best of the Eyre Peninsula and Nullarbor Plain during whale watching season!

4 days of exploring and experiencing the Margaret River region. Wow wow wow, loved the visual delights, nutritional sensations, the slowness of yoga sessions, the workshops of sourdough making at One Table Farm; the education received from … More the Spice Mistress and her delightful food. The experience of tasting gin for the first time and walking an 8km section of the Cape to Cape. Thank you so much Jodie, Gem and Riley for making me feel so welcomed, you looked after us girls in every way. Glamping at Fair Harvest was a treat I’ll never forget 🤩🤩🤩

In March 2021 four of us did the Best of Port Lincoln and Coffin Bay and we still talk about our experience when we catch up. From the minute we were greeted at the airport by our tour guide Ian the fun began. Ian was a fountain of information … More and he certainly made our experience memorable. He showed us many amazing sights, our hotel accommodation was A1 and our food was 10/10. Getting into our waders and sitting down at a semi-submerged water pavilion, shucking oysters washed down with some wine was an experience we will never forget. We will be back!!!

I absolutely loved my 10 day trip across the Nullarbor from Adelaide to Perth, there was not one thing I would change. The Nullarbor was on my bucket list of things to do and you can’t do it any better than living out of a swag. If you … More get the chance to swim with the seals and dolphins do it, it’s worth every cent. I just loved seeing the kangaroos on the beach over in WA and the huge trees and the bush walks we did. Don’t think about it just go ahead and do it.
