Connect to Country immersed in an ancient landscape.

Be connected to Country immersed in a mesmerising and ancient landscape. The fossils found in the Flinders Ranges are so unique that geologists had to revise the geologic time-line of the Earth’s history. They identified a new era called the Ediacaran period, but the discoveries don’t stop there. A visit into this ancient landscape is guaranteed to awaken the senses.

Unleash the adventurer within on our eco tours, which take you deep into this 540-million-year-old landscape. This vast region is framed by the outback and defined by craggy clifftops, rugged ranges, deep craters, and dramatic gorges abound with wildlife. It’s the ultimate destination to disconnect from the demands of everyday life and reconnect with nature and yourself.

Explore the otherworldly Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park and stay at Wilpena Pound, the beating heart of the Flinders Ranges. Also known by its Adnyamathanha name of Ikara, meaning meeting place, the region is rich with Indigenous culture. Engage with it through a Welcome to Country in the Adnyamathanha people’s language. Take a hike on the Arkaroo Rock Trail, which has impressive views over the Chace Range. This significant cultural site has an incredible example of Adnyamathanha rock art depicting the Yura Muda (Dreaming or creation story) of Ikara. In the southern reaches, visit the rugged Mount Remarkable National Park and hike through the beautiful Alligator Gorge.

Iconic Australian animals are abundant throughout the Flinders Ranges. Short-beaked Echidnas, Emus, Red Kangaroos, Western Grey Kangaroos, and Common Wallaroos are just a small sample of the wildlife that awaits. If you’re lucky, you may even see some rare Yellow-footed Rock Wallabies.
