There has never been a better time to escape the crowds and explore the Southern Coastline of Australia, and Untamed Escapes is ready to welcome you back with confidence. The safety of our guides and passengers is our highest priority, and since COVID-19, we have reviewed every aspect of our operations and adapted. We have implemented a range of enhanced protocols so that you can sit back, relax and enjoy the serenity.
These protocols are based upon the Australian Federal Government and National COVID Compliance Commission COVID-Safe Guidelines, as well as the World Travel & Tourism Council’s ‘Safe Travel Protocols for Tour Operators’.
We will continually evaluate the most up to date information from these sources and adapt as required to ensure we are doing everything we can to keep our passengers safe.
Vaccination Policy
In accordance with current Government regulations, it is no longer a requirement to be double vaccinated, although we do highly recommend it.
Guides Training & Expertise
- All guides have completed COVID-19 Awareness Training for both South Australia and Western Australia. Health Safety Environment Australia has designed these programs. They teach us how to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19 and adapt to a “COVID-safe” way of operating.
- Our Director has participated in the National ATEC COVID Ready program.
- Guides will complete a self-declaration form as part of their preparation for the tour to declare any signs of illness and will not perform duties if unwell.
- Guides will monitor the health and wellbeing of passengers and themselves, ensuring if anyone becomes symptomatic while on tour, the correct protocols are followed.
- All guides have Senior First Aid Certification and hold the required vehicle licences, permits and knowledge of the destinations that tours operate.
Hygiene and Sanitation
- Each vehicle is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected at the beginning and end of each tour, with an emphasis on high touch points and hard surfaces. On extended journeys, the vehicle is cleaned at the end of each day, ready for the next morning.
- We use Government recommended cleaning, disinfectant and sanitisation products, routines, and monitoring.
- Our guides will frequently remind passengers to adopt protocols for regular hygiene practices.
- Hand sanitiser will always be available.
- Vehicle air-conditioning systems will be subject to thorough checks and increased routine cleaning to ensure clean air circulation is supplemented with fresh air options.
Fit for Travel Declaration
Upon booking, you will be emailed a Pre-Departure Information Pack, which outlines everything you need to know before travelling with us. This includes information about pick-up times and what to bring on tour. It will also explain our new online check-in procedure whereby all passengers are required to complete the ‘Fit for Travel Self- declaration’ to confirm they are free from illness.
This will give you and all fellow passengers an added level of assurance. Additionally, passengers with any symptoms of illness before travel will be requested not to travel.
Our program includes the implementation of protocols for when guests or staff become unwell during a tour. We can respond quickly and discreetly to any such event, including ensuring safe return from remote locations.
Physical Distancing
Our journeys take you to some of the most remote and pristine places in Australia, so there are limited opportunities to interact with people outside the touring group.
Accommodation, Meals and Activities
We work with only the best, accredited tourism businesses in the regions we operate, all of who have implemented their own site-specific COVID Safe procedures.
For any food that is prepared by our guides while on the road, such as morning tea or picnic lunches, we follow Government recommendations.
Flexible Booking Conditions
As a direct result of COVID -19, we have made changes to our booking conditions and cancellation policy. These are outlined in our Terms & Conditions on each website, and we recommend reading these before booking.
Playing Your Part
Here are a few things you can do to help:
- Physical distancing – help stop the spread of coronavirus by keeping your distance. Remember, don’t shake hands, or exchange physical greetings. Wherever possible stay 1.5 metres apart from other people.
- Practice good hygiene – wash your hands with warm soapy water for 30 seconds regularly. Cough and sneeze into your arm, and if you use a tissue, only use it once, then dispose of it. Then rewash your hands.
- Know the signs – if you develop a sore throat, fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, or loss of smell, please let our guide know and seek medical advice.

Had a brilliant 3 days, 2 nights swag camping on kangaroo island with Chris our guide! We managed to see so much of the island including spotting wild koalas, going to some beautiful beaches for swim stops such as Emu bay, Stokes bay and … More Hanson bay. The swag camping was so fun and we could star gaze and seen the wallaby’s s at the campsite. The food was always good and had plenty of options. Such a great group and a really fun trip! Zoe was also a great addition and help to the tour!!

Had an amazing time on the 3 day Kangaroo Island tour! Chris was our guide, and he was phenomenal! We saw so many wild kangaroos, koalas, and seals. Also so many amazing views. We saw all the island’s highlights and more. Accommodations … More were great with the swag camping. No complaints about the food either. My husband and I did a 3 day kangaroo island tour. It was very fun. We experienced sleeping in a tent, do some of a bit stuffs for making lunch and clean up. We saw a lot of wildlife in KI. Too bad we missed the hike as we are doing the … More dolphin swim. But our guide Hannah did a great job of explaining and showing us what KI is all about. It was a short 3 days and would love to experience more of KI when we have the time to go back again.

The 10 days of Adelaide to Perth will remain an unforgettable experience to me.
This had everything - swag camping , star studded night skies, beautiful beaches, scenic drives, spectacular hikes, picnic lunches & a lot of wildlife … More ( yes, Kangaroos wake you up in the morning - I am not kidding !! ).
The selected camping parks and the facilities available were impressive, can't complain. Enough time to explore and enjoy places.
Have to mention - Brendon and Jackson - they were the best guides , really appreciate their hard work, effort and patience to give all of us a wonderful tour experience. The food was delicious, in-plenty and always on-time, never felt disappointed 🙂 .
The group was a bunch of wonderful humans who were very friendly and full of energy, there was never a boring moment !!
