Untamed Wildlife

Untamed Escapes brings people back to their natural state of presence through experiential journeys in nature. Our Australian wildlife tours offer travellers the opportunity to experience incredible wildlife encounters from the land and sea. And just like our destinations, our wildlife encounters provide great diversity.

South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula is famed for its aquatic wildlife. From the heart pumping adrenalin of coming face-to-face with a Great White Shark to the pure ecstasy of splashing around with wild and rare Australian sea lions and dolphins. The underwater encounters are unforgettable.

Further along the coast, our wildlife tours are epic – literally. The Head of Bight on the far west coast of South Australia is fast becoming renowned as one of the world’s most impressive whale-watching sites. Here, we’ll have the opportunity to view up to 120 Southern Right Whales as they frolic in the waters of the Great Australian Bight Marine Park.

Back on land, you’ll see kangaroos sun-baking on beaches, cuddly koalas munching on eucalyptus leaves, and emus and dingos roaming the vast desert. Overhead, giant Wedge-tailed Eagles circle. If you venture into the Flinders Ranges, you may even encounter rare Yellow-footed Rock-wallabies. Our wildlife tours encompass the most bucket-list-worthy experiences in nature. Witness wildlife untamed and take in moments that will be imprinted on your mind forever.

Koala Conservation Project at Mikkira Station

Koala at Mikkira Station on Eyre Peninsula South Australia tour

Untamed Escapes are passionate about protecting the earth and the wildlife in the regions we visit.

Our 6-Day Eyre Peninsula and Flinders Ranges Adventure Tour includes participating in critical koala conservation work at Mikkira Station.

Depending on the time of year, we will spend the afternoon removing weeds, or collecting, propagating or planting manna gum tree seeds.

These trees are critical habitat for the koalas at Mikkira Station, and we hope our partnership with land management and conservation groups will make a difference in their protection.

This is the first tour of many more to come that includes conservation volunteering elements allowing travellers to create positive change through purposeful travel.
